ARTS students in Eastleigh have been showcasing their hard work with end of year shows.

Eastleigh College level 2 and 3 dance students recently performed Now – a highly energetic show including ballet, urban, jazz, musical theatre and contemporary dance, with music from the 1980s.

The choreography was put together by students and staff, which has been developed over the past few months.

Sally Thompson, managing director of Jiggy Wrigglers, said: “We were really impressed by the professionalism and confidence of the students. The show was a fantastic mix of styles and the 80s theme was a real hit with the audience.”

She added: “We hope to work with some of the students over the summer period and provide some work experience placements in the future.”

Meanwhile, pre-degree foundation diploma in art, design and music students showcased their end of year exhibition Something, throughout last month at Desborough campus.

It was opened by illustrator and former student Nat Kitch, and featured a diverse range of work from graphic design, illustration and fine art, to video illustration, photography, sculpture and textiles.

The title was inspired by Turner Prize winner Martin Creed and course manager Sebastiane Hegarty said it has been a rewarding year.

“We have some exceptional art students this year and all of our applying students are progressing to university, with almost half of these to the top UAL London Universities, including Central St. Martins, Goldsmiths and The Slade School of Fine Art. It has been an extremely rewarding year and the quality of the exhibition is tribute to the ambition and imagination of our students.”
