A SPECIAL auction evening in Hampshire saw nearly £20,000 raised for charity earlier this month.

The British Red Cross Hampshire Ball at Eastleigh’s Concorde Club on November 16, saw 180 people bid big in an effort to scoop up the prizes.

Entertainment included Michael Bublé tribute act Liam White, a disco provided by DJ Steve Phillips and a casino.

Jan Treacher-Evans, local Red Cross fundraiser, said: “Proceeds raised at the ball will go towards the work of the Red Cross in Hampshire, where we provide a whole range of services for local people, including providing support to those affected by a house fire and first aid cover at local events.

“Events like the Hampshire Ball are a really important source of fundraising for the Red Cross and we’re hugely grateful to everyone who helped organise the event and to all those who came along and supported us. Thanks to their efforts the Red Cross can continue to be there for people in crisis, both at home and overseas.”

Donated lots included a three-night stay in a small luxury hotel, a case of wine from the Earl of Portsmouth’s personal cellar and a cushion made by BBC Radio Solent presenter Judy Goodlet.

The auction raised £5,165 with a total of £18,000 donated throughout the evening.
