A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a road crash in a Hampshire village.

The incident happened shortly after 2.50pm yesterday (July 12) on Botley Road in Fair Oak.

Another motorcyclist died was killed in a crash on the A30 Road between Stockbridge and Salisbury at around 4.20pm.

It is believed the male motorcyclist at Fair Oak was in collision with a tree before colliding with a car.

The air ambulance was dispatched to the scene and landed in the field adjacent to Shorts Road, and was joined by a double-manned road ambulance and a rapid response vehicle.

The female driver of the car was treated by paramedics at the scene of the crash.

Police directed traffic away from the scene, and motorists were advised to avoid the area due to road closures whilst an investigation was being carried out.

Traffic from Bishopstoke is currently being diverted along Allington Lane towards West End, and Botley Road is closed at Mortimers Lane to traffic coming from Winchester.

A shopkeeper has spoken about how those nearby rushed to the scene to try and help the rider in the immediate aftermath of the crash.

One young man ran up to the nearby Wyvern School in a bid to try and find a defibrillator while another woman, who is believed to be a hospital worker, gave the victim compressions.

Sadly, nothing could be done for the victim.

The shopkeeper said: "We immediately called an ambulance while others rushed out to see what they could do to help.

"A couple of ladies from the shop were left rather distressed by what they saw.

"It's not nice to see something like that."

The later incident occured at Lopcombe Corner, near Salisbury, where a 24-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Believed to be from Salisbury, he was driving a Honda motorcycle which collided with a Ford flatbed truck.

The truck driver was not injured but badly shaken.

Anyone with information on the A30 crash should contact the Whitchurch Roads Police unit on 101, quoting Operation Chipboard.
