A CLASSIC love story is this year’s Christmas production at a Hampshire school.

Wyvern Technology College, in Fair Oak, is hosting Beauty and the Beast all week, which started on Tuesday (December 4) and runs until Saturday (December 8).

Almost 100 students are involved from acting, costume design, make up, sound and music and back stage support.

Directed by head of drama Karen Cream, it is an adaptation of the Disney Broadway production where the hideous and angry Beast must earn the love of the beautiful, kind-hearted Belle if he is to break the spell over him and turn him back into a prince.

Musical director Bryan Postlethwaite said: “Being part of a production of this kind is enormously rewarding for everyone involved. This is a demanding show and will involve a large amount of work to put together.”

Tickets cost £7 for adults and £5 for children and concessions. The college also supports Southampton Operative Society’s production of Beauty and the Beast which takes place in January at the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton.
