A WINCHESTER man with a severe drink problem has been ordered to get help and now has a suspended jail sentence hanging over him.

Richard Michael Kilcommons appeared in court after failing to comply with a community order imposed for drink driving.

Kilcommons, 52, of Main Road, Littleton, admitted the offence.

Magistrates in Basingstoke were told the original offence was committed on December 31 last year when he was caught over the limit on St Peter Street in Winchester.

His alcohol reading was 127 micrograms in 100 millilitres of breath, or nearly four times the legal limit.

Magistrates jailed him for 12 weeks but suspended the sentence for 18 months.

Kilcommons was also given a 12-month alcohol dependency treatment order with the Society of St James.

He was also given a rehabilitation activity requirement for a maximum of ten days.
