SAINTS midfielder Jordy Clasie has been fined for speeding.

Clasie’s 14-reg Land Rover was caught by a fixed speed camera breaking the 30mph limit on the St Mary’s Place and Kingsway stretch of road in Southampton on February 13, Aldershot Magistrates Court was told.

The prosecution proved the case in Clasie’s absence as he was not in court for the hearing.

The bench fined him £220 and added a £22 victim surcharge along with ordering the player pays £85 costs.

Clasie, 25, of Southdown Road, Shawford, near Winchester, also had his licence endorsed with three penalty points.

The combative Dutch midfielder was signed by Ronald Koeman last summer from Feyenoord for around £8-10 million as a replacement for Manchester United-bound Morgan Schneiderlin.

His first season at St Mary’s was a blighted by a series of injuries including one picked up in his first game.

He made 15 appearances and has yet to score a goal in the Premier League.

Clasie has played 11 times for the Netherlands including at the 2014 World Cup.
