SHOPLIFTER Warren Hugh has been jailed for his recent one-man crimewave.

Warren Hugh, 27, of Octavia Hill, Stanmore, admitted a string of thieving and related offences from shops across Winchester in recent weeks.

He had initially denied 13 offences since November 27 but changed his plea at Basingstoke Magistrates Court.

Magistrates jailed him for 14 weeks and ordered he pay a £80 victim surcharge and £180 criminal courts charge.

Hugh admitted that on November 21 he took nine DVDs and a camera worth £373 from Sainsbury's.

On November 26 it was headphones, sound kits, cameras and a memory card worth £220 again from Sainsbury's.

On November 28 he attempted to steal alcohol valued at £150 from Waitrose in Weeke and threatening behaviour towards Mark Stewart and Charlotte Veal.

On December 11 he snatched DVDs valued at £140-250 from Sainsbury's.

On December 12 he attacked Lee Pumfrey in Chandler's Ford and stole 12 bottles of spirits from Waitrose. On the same day Hugh grabbed six or seven bottles of Moet champagne valued at £272.73 from the Co-op.

On December 13 he stole assorted groceries from One Stop and assaulted Sarah Prankerd.

Hugh also stole food including meat and cheese from the Co-op.
