DRIVERS are being urged to lock their vehicles properly after a van was stolen near winchester.

At about 1.20pm today a Renault van drove to Otterbourne Road in Shawford, and the driver got out to deliver two parcels.

When he came back the vehicle, which he had left running, was being driven away.

The van was later discovered in Shirley in Southampton and a number of parcels had been stolen.

Police are urging motorists to lock and secure their vehicles whenever they leave them and to keep keys with them while away from them.

Delivery drivers are asked to use pre-planned secure overnight parking facilities, and decide on these before staring a journey.
