THIEVES have burgled two unsecured homes in two days in Winchester city centre.

Police are appealing for witnesses after properties in Clifton Terrace and Colebrook Street were burgled between Tuesday and Wednesday.

In both cases the criminals got in through an open or unlocked window and stole a laptop.

A police statement said: "This is the third stolen laptop we have had reported to us since 8th July , and both burglaries have been via an insecure window. Please bear this in mind and make sure valuables are not on display, and lock your doors and windows."

At around 2.15pm on Wednesday afternoon a man was approached and "asked for some of his personal items" by Winchester Bus Station.

The Clifton Terrace incident occurred between 11pm on Tuesday and 6.15pm on Wednesday.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
