A WOMAN has been arrested after another woman was assaulted on Christmas morning.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident which happened between 8.30-9.30am near to the St Catherine’s Hill park-and-ride.

A woman approached the 20-year-old female victim, threatening her with a knife, before taking the victim’s phone.

The attacker had previously been seen near to the toilet block with a male friend.

Another man, who was seen talking to the pair, was walking a black and white sheepdog and was heading towards the Bar End park-and-ride car park.

DC Paul Harfield said: “This area is popular with dog walkers and locals. I am keen to speak to the man who was out walking his dog and who may have spoken with the attacker and her friend.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Harfield at Winchester CID on 101, quoting 44140457808, or call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.

The arrested woman, from Winchester, has been bailed until February 23, pending further enquiries.
