POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a serious sexual assault in Winchester earlier this week.
A 27-year-old woman was assaulted on Wednesday (December 4) in an alleyway off of Jewry Street which opens alongside Buddies Diner and Strutt and Parker estate agents.
The incident is said to have occurred at approximately 2.20am, said police today.
Trained officers are currently assisting the victims and working to establish further details.
Detective Inspector Jan Bulfield, from Winchester CID, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who has information that may assist our investigation.
“I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone who used the alleyway, or was close to the alleyway, between 1.55am and 2.40am.
“We are aware that there were two men in the area around the time who may have significant information. They are described as white, aged in their 20s and between 5ft 7 and 5ft 9 tall.
“We will have extra patrols in place over the weekend. If you have any concerns or questions please speak to an officer or call 101.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Winchester CID on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
