Jobs fear as Southampton RBS office is placed "under review"

HUNDREDS of Hampshire staff of tax-payer funded Royal Bank of Scotland are today fearing for their jobs after the Southampton site’s future was put under review.

The blow to the Brunswick Gate base, where 250 people are employed, was tucked away in an announcement that RBS is axing another 3,500 jobs and closing 12 of its business services centres across the UK.

Trade union Unite described the announcement as a “horror story”.

The Saturday Echo leads with planned job cuts at the OS. The above story was posted yesterday. The Echo never report any bad news in their own backyard.

my bank is rbs, just had a letter to say my new bank will be santander as rbs was forced to sell off 300 odd branches by the 4th reich (oops i mean't the eu), probably be a whole lot more job cuts as most rbs sites have a santander nearby.

Santander have done well out of this, taking over Bradford & Bingley, Alliance & Leicester and now RBS. The only 'safe' bank seems to be the Co-op. How ironic is that?

I wonder when the EU will force Santander to sell off some of their banks as they sem to be taking over the UK banking system?
Is ironic that one bank is forced to sell, which allows another to grow even bigger, possibly bigger than the one that sold.

i like that the 4th reich, the trouble is that you could be closer to the truth than you think.
what is said about the usa is that it is the 4th reich or the continuation of the 3rd reich.
because of a cartel of usa companies that had german scientist, technicians and engineers, and had there records altered to lie to the usa public that those people had nothing to do with the german war machine, then there is the bush family who supplied the germany with finances, and fairbanks supplying with a chemical additive for there air fuel for planes.

Redundancies at banks and other financial services companies have been an ongoing thing for 20 years that I know of, so there's nothing new here, and it's always in the name of cost-cutting, increasing efficiencies, etc.

Ironic?
Just a very well run and principled bank with a strong ethical policy that meant it avoided all the speculation and derivative dealings that has brought down the rest.
Why is that "ironic"?
