A PUTTING green, nine hole crazy golf course and three company beer fridges have been installed at web hosting firm PEER1’s new Southampton offices as part of its push to be the “coolest tech company on the south coast”.
The Canadian web giant, which claims to host one per cent of the internet on its servers, opened its European arm last April in offices at Southampton’s Basepoint Centre.
Now it is moving to the former offices of PriceWaterhouseCooper in The Quay in Ocean Village, where the staff can also enjoy PEER1’s own brand espresso coffee, beanbags and a company Nintendo Wii. PEER1 currently employs 16 people in Southampton but is now recruiting for a further five staff and has room for 60 in its new offices.
Managing director Dominic Monkhouse said: “We have a lot of conference calls and they’re not always as exciting as you might imagine so it’s nice to be able to have a game of tennis on the Wii or a round of golf while you’re at it.
“It’s cracking to have our own place. My aim is to make us the coolest tech company on the south coast. When people walk in our front door, I want them to want to work here.”
