Government Minister Greg Clark said there was a ‘buzz about business’ after visiting the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) at the Hampshire town’s air show.

The Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy spoke to members of the consortium including Barnbrook Systems, the Fareham-based family-owned manufacturing firm.

He said: “For me to see the exhibition hall so full is gratifying.

“Businesses are driving forward opportunities in the aerospace sector including Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) and its members.”

Mr Clark spoke to Tony Barnett, managing director of Barnbrook Systems and a director of FAC.

Tony said: “I spoke to several ministers about the importance of the sector and the need for optimism.

“As Brexit approaches we are seeing a great deal of interest in FAC members from countries right around the world.

“Our entrepreneurs and innovators lead the world and will create jobs and wealth if given clarity and confidence.

FAC is hosting its highest number of members on its largest stand yet at the internationally famous event which began on Monday.

Twenty-seven businesses have dedicated display space on the FAC’s 190 sqm stand while others amongst its 200-strong membership will be able to use it as a base for networking and meetings.

David Barnes added: “It is more important than ever that the FAC leads the way as the ‘local” trade association for Farnborough to ensure the region maintains its prime position and continues to grow on a global scale.”

The show – dubbed ‘the home of UK Aviation’ – is set to welcome 73,000 visitors in 2018 when there will be more than 1,500 stands in six halls as well as regular air displays.
