A HAMPSHIRE woman has been shortlisted in for a top PR award.

Amy Grinstead, senior account manager at Carswell Gould is one of just young PR professionals in the running for the 'Outstanding Young Communicator' title in the Chartered Institute of Public Relations' (CIPR) annual Excellence Awards.

Amy is the only representative from the south, outside London, to make the shortlist. Having joined Carswell Gould in 2014 as an account executive, Southampton Solent University graduate Amy has swiftly risen through the ranks and is established as a key member of the PR and content team, working with the likes of ABP Port of Southampton, Red Funnel, SETsquared and recently working to bring the innovation showcase event Venturefest South to the region.

When not working on her own skills, Amy is passing on her knowledge and experience to undergraduates and newcomers to the profession, acting as a mentor at Southampton Solent University.

Gareth Miller, strategic director at Carswell Gould said: "The entire agency is brimming with pride and excitement at this industry recognition for Amy. She truly is an outstanding communicator, who cares passionately about getting results for her clients and for the agency.

Amy said: "It was nerve-wracking watching the announcement online on Friday, in fact, I didn't even hear my name at first and it wasn't until my colleagues began cheering that I realised what had happened. The news hasn't really sunk in yet, but I am sure it will over the next few weeks."

The winner will be announced at the awards on June 6.
