Visitors to a breakfast seminar in Southampton are set to get a wake up call as they witness a live hacking during the event.

Taylor Made Computer Solutions’ Cyber Security Breakfast will educate businesses on cyber security and, in order to hammer home the message of just how easy it is to fall victim, a computer hacking will take place there and then.

The event on March 7, in association with Paris Smith and online security firm Dionach, will feature practical tips and advice that IT managers and business leaders can implement straight away.

Speakers will cover everything from how businesses can protect their data to the legal implications of falling foul of data protection laws.

Matt Faulkner, technical director at Taylor Made, said: “It’s only when you see first-hand how easy it is to be hacked that you realise how important it is to keep your data safe. This event will allow us to do just that in a safe environment and give local businesses the advice they need to protect themselves.”

According to Get Safe Online and Action Fraud, British businesses have seen a 22 per cent increase in cyber incidents over the past year, with total reported losses of more than £1 billion.

Alan Cousins, practice director at Paris Smith, said: ““We’re looking forward to combining our legal and IT expertise at this seminar and ensuring Southampton businesses are up to date with the latest advice.”

To apply for a free place at the seminar, which takes place from 8-10am at Paris Smith’s office in London Road, Southampton, visit info.tmcs.co.uk/cyber-security-event-2017.
