STAFF at a Hampshire firm have raised thousands of pounds of charity.

Workers at Estee Lauder in Fareham completed a number of fund raising activities to bring in £19,000 for Wave 105 Cash for Kids in just a week.

To raise money for disadvantaged children across the south, staff at the national beauty brand baked, competed in netball, tested their general knowledge and tried their chances at tombola, a lucky dip and a giant raffle.

Staff also held a sweet versus savoury bake-off, where the winning cake was selected by Wave 105 presenter Andy Jackson. Two boys’ football teams took on two girls’ netball teams at their own game in a ‘league style’ netball tournament, which saw the boys take first and second place, after employing some illegal fancy footwork.

A couple of quizzes, hosted by Wave 105 breakfast presenter Steve Power, were so well supported that there was a waiting list.

The aim of the annual Estee Lauder fundraising week is to generate funds to buy gifts for the Wave 105 Cash for Kids Mission Christmas appeal.

Mandy Parish of Estee Lauder said: “We are absolutely over the moon that we managed to raise a staggering £19,000. This amount will help to put so many smiles on the faces of local children this Christmas.”

Last year the company provided 138 volunteers last Christmas to help out in the warehouse and are hoping to increase this number this Christmas.
