TURNING internet threats into opportunities will be the theme of an event being hosted by SETsquared.

The free event is taking place in the Innovation Centre, on Wednesday, starting from 5.30pm and running until 8pm.

Aimed at entrepreneurs, businesses and investors, The Internet of Threats, will feature talks from experts who will highlight how cyber security can actually create major new opportunities for start-ups.

Adrian Braine, entrepreneur in residence at SETsquared’s hub in Basingstoke, said: “The global Internet of Things market is set to grow massively over the coming years, running to billions of devices and trillions of dollars but until now, security has largely been ignored.

“The recent realisation that security, or lack of it, could make or break the Internet of Things is creating major new opportunities for cyber security start-ups to exploit.

“The inherent vulnerability and complexity of IoT systems opens the way for a new wave of start-ups to develop pioneering security solutions that provide end to end protection from the cloud to the device.”

The talks will cover topics including IoT security: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and not just threats, IoT security middleware: evaluating the threats and protecting against them, and ‘Security in the cloud: your data in their hands, delivered by SETsquared experts from companies including MathEmbedded, NquiringMinds and Basingstoke-based RazorSecure.

The event includes a panel session and networking. To register visit setsquared.co.uk/iot.
