IT’S the global brand that’s known for its lacy lingerie and world famous supermodels.

And now lingerie chain Victoria’s Secret is set to open its first store on the South Coast at a Southampton shopping centre.

The company will open at 13,000sq ft store selling lingerie, beauty products and clothing in the city’s WestQuay Shopping Centre.

Work to fit out the new store is set to begin in the next few weeks ahead of the outlet opening its doors to the public in November.

It comes after the Arcadia Group announced earlier this year that it was closing five of its stores in the centre after their leases expired.

Its branches of Dorothy Perkins, Wallis, Burton, Evans and Miss Selfridge in the centre all shut pulled down their shutters for the last time in June.

Now space previously occupied by the stores will become Victoria’s Secret’s eleventh UK store, and its first south of Greater London.

The company, which is now the USA’s biggest lingerie retailer, was founded in 1977, has expanded to owning more than 1,000 stores across the world, including branches in Taiwan, China and Israel.

The models to represent the chain as Victoria’s Secret Angels include Eva Herzigova, Heidi Klum (pictured) and Claudia Schiffer.

The chain says its new store in Southampton will feature its latest lingerie collections, beauty products and the PINK lifestyle brand of accessories and clothing.

Andy Collyer, the general manager at WestQuay, said: “We’re excited to welcome Victoria’s Secret to WestQuay later this year. It’s sure to be a popular choice with our customers particularly in the run up to Christmas, and will only serve to strengthen our fashion offering in the centre.”

Sarah Mander, Assistant Director, Retail Leasing, at Hammerson, commented: “Victoria’s Secret is the perfect addition to WestQuay for our fashion-focused customers and complements our existing retailers and new brands.

“By continuing to attract leading global retailers such as Victoria’s Secret to WestQuay we are continuing to showcase the centre’s position as the South Coast’s dominant retail destination.”

Other names to have recently opened outlets in WestQuay include Jack Wills, Cath Kidston, Thomas Sabo and Timberland.
