A SOUTHAMPTON marine interior specialist has completed a large refurbishment of the 55,000-ton cruise ship Thomson Dream in Gibraltar.
The 187-strong team of Trimline joiners, fitters, furnishers, deck head team, plumbers, electricians and decorators joined Thomson Celebration in Malaga, Spain and left before the next passengers embarked in Lanzarote.
Reconfiguration work took place inside the ship, where Trimline created four new passenger cabins as well as fitting new baths and bath panels in a number of other staterooms.
The Broadway Show Lounge was refurbished with new carpet throughout, new curtains and re-upholstery on more than 500 chairs and sofas.
All fabrics and upholstery were made at Trimline headquarters in Southampton by a specialist soft furnishings team.
The vessel’s Lido Restaurant had new carpets and the Ocean Bar was also recarpeted and back bar optics replaced along with decoration to low level cabinets to upgrade the bar’s appearance. Other work included refurbishing an outside bar area, repairing restaurant flooring, tiling and fitting lighting together with improvements to the Photo Studio.
Flooring and deck heads of seven lifts were replaced, while 19 public toilets were redecorated and new marble tops, taps and toilet back boxes installed.
Andrew Richards, the company’s chief executive said: “The work to Thomson Dream came after a successful refurbishment of the Thomson Celebration, which Trimline were delighted to win.
“Winning repeat refurbishments is testament to the work of our team and the commitment and dedication that we show to our customers.
“Heading into our 50th anniversary in 2015, this is a quality we are very proud of at Trimline.”
