8:20am Monday 15th August 2011 in Bishop's Waltham By Rosie Parry
A HAMPSHIRE woman has joined a team of cyclists to raise money for cancer. Bishop’s Waltham Coffee Shop owner, Debbie Walker, will take part in the 400km charity cycle around Kenya later this year. The cycle is in aid of the Women V Cancer challenge, and will support the work of three charities: Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action. A donation will also be made to support cancer care in Kenya. The women-only team, including television presenters Dawn Porter and Aggie MacKenzie, will ride across the Rift Valley over five days, through savannah plains, wildlife game parks and tropical rainforests. Women of all ages and abilities are invited to take part from Saturday, October 29 to Monday, November 7 2011, from Sunday, November 6 to Tuesday, November 15 2011 or Friday, November 18 to Sunday, November 27 2011. Debbie is training hard and would like to invite any local people and companies to pledge their support and donate. She needs to raise a minimum of £2,800. To donate go to www.justgiving.com/debbiewalker2011, or text SHXC48 with the amount you wish to pledge to 70070, or call 01489 896990.
