4:50pm Saturday 13th August 2011 in Bishop's Waltham
By Warwick Payne
TWO good causes are set to benefit from the re-launch of the Southern Co-operative community support card in Bishop's Waltham.
The retailer asked residents to nominate two groups that should benefit from the scheme.
The ones chosen were Home-Start Meon Valley and the Bishop’s Waltham Minibus Group.
The scheme works by the Co-op setting money aside every time a shopper swipes their community card.
It is hoped that £15,000 will be raised in Bishop’s Waltham during the next 12 months.
Once the cash is counted, 70 per cent will go to the minibus group and Home-Start Meon Valley will receive the rest.
The last time that the Co-op ran the scheme in Bishop’s Waltham, it raised £12,000.
The money was split between Bishop's Waltham Community Swimming, the Dynamos Sports Club and the Gateway Club.
The scheme was re-launched at the Co-op store in High Street, Bishop’s Waltham, earlier this month (August).
