Winchester MP Steve Brine is pressing for quicker funding for superfast broadband in his constituency.
Mr Brine met culture secretary Jeremy Hunt this week to try to get a share of a £530 million scheme for the faster service.
The Government is focussing on mainly rural areas such as Norfolk and Devon.
Mr Brine said: “The Government’s commitment to rolling out superfast broadband will have a real impact on the economy here in Winchester, especially in the rural parts I represent in the north of the District and in some parts of Kings Worthy and Alresford.
“Businesses depend on fast and reliable communications and this kind of investment is exactly what our community needs. I wanted to make the case for funding directly with the Culture Secretary so that he knows just important broadband is to us.”
Parts of the constituency, especially the rural areas have frustratingly slow broadband speeds.
