A PARISH councillor has been handed a suspended prison sentence for attacking a villager.
Gerry Tull, 69, admitted attacking Alistair Baker in Owslebury and threatening behaviour against him.
Tull, farming contractor, of main Road, Owslebury received a six-month prison term suspended for two years at Basingstoke Magistrates Court.
The court heard that it was a "nasty incident, sustained and involving the use of a weapon."
Tull, the court heard, had a history of public order offences.
The magistrates ordered Tull pay Mr Baker £500 in compensation with a £115 victim surcharge and £620 costs.
They also imposed a curfew with electronic monitoring to run from 10pm to 6am until May 9.
A retraining order bars Tull from contacting with Alistair of Sharon Baker or going to their address in Owslebury.
