FRESH volunteers are needed to maintain Bishop’s Waltham Youth Hall, managers have said.

Concerns have been raised by residents over the condition of the facility in Malt Lane, but trustee Eric Birbeck says attempts to recruit younger custodians have been fruitless.

He warned that responsibility for the hall’s upkeep will return to the Charity Commission if nobody comes forward.

Mr Birbeck said: “Many residents complain that Malt Lane, on which the hall stands, is unsightly, and at the same time complain that nothing is undertaken for the youth. And yet we as trustees cannot secure further interest. New blood is required in order to guide the trust into the future and perhaps even the replacement of the hall for the good of the youth and community of Bishop’s Waltham.”

Anyone interested in helping to run the hall, which has operated for nearly 60 years, is asked to contact Eric on 07737597046.
