AN ARMY of volunteers is set to march on Bishop's Waltham Palace this summer to celebrate its role in a medieval battle.

Town chiefs are recruiting helpers for the Road to Agincourt, a four-day festival featuring re-enactments, a medieval camp, live theatre and film screenings.

The party marks the 600th anniversary of King Henry V's stay in the town on the way to his landmark victory in the Hundred Years' War.

Around 1,500 people are expected to attend as organisers look to bring the palace ruins back into community use.

The event will also feature an exhibition in the palace, an open-air performance of The Tempest and a screening of Kenneth Brannagh's film adaptation of Henry V.

Bishop's Waltham Town Team is seeking help in everything from performance and design to first aid, stewarding and litterpicking.

As previously reported, the dates for the event have changed to July 16-19. Anyone able to help is advised to contact Robert Shields on 01489 894289.
