YOUNG photographers in Bishop's Waltham who want to ply their trade outside school will soon have the chance when the local club opens its doors to juniors.

Bishop's Waltham Photographic Society is looking to take on around 12 junior members aged 11 to 15 for a new programme of sessions and trips.

Chairman Steve Green said: “We want to encourage youngsters. If there's some extra-curricular stuff outside the school environment, then it gives them an alternative to what the teachers are churning out from the curriculum.”

He is looking to put on special sessions for youngsters on Sundays or Saturday mornings and test their skills at attractions like Bishop's Waltham Palace and Marwell Zoo.

The society's membership has doubled to 60 since 2009 due to the proliferation of smartphone photography.
