HERE’S one for grammar geeks – Bishop’s Waltham chiefs are appealing to Winchester City Council to reinstate the apostrophe in the parish’s spelling on maps.
Parish councillor Robert Shields has asked the city council to correct the error when they next update the Boundary Commission. His previous requests have gone unanswered.
The apostrophe-free version has been used on Ordnance Survey maps to describe the civil parish, but not the town itself, for more than 60 years.
