CIVIC chiefs could make Bishop’s Waltham a “hub for community buses.”
Residents from smaller villages would be taken to and from the town, where there are regular buses into Winchester.
The news comes in the wake of county council cuts, such as in Owslebury, where residents were furious that a five-day-a-week service was slashed to three.
Winchester’s deputy leader, Cllr Rob Humby, stressed the idea is still at a preliminary stage, but it could see parish councils funding their own drivers.
The suggestion met with widespread approval from councillors at Bishop’s Waltham parish meeting on Tuesday.
