A 65-year-old pilot escaped with minor injuries when his single-engine kit aircraft failed to take off from Chilbolton airfield at 2.21pm today.
The RANSS-6 aircraft, which ended up embedded in a hedge on the airfield perimeter, lost its propeller, its undercarriage and sustained structural damage.
Police say that the Air Accident Investigation Branch is dealing with the incident.
