A SELLOUT concert for the Alresford St John’s Church bells appeal raised more than £8,000.
The event earlier this month attracted a 300-strong audience and featured international classical pianist, Di Xiao and West End musical star, Gina Beck.
They performed with the versatile Hampshire County Youth Choir, led by director of music, Keith Clark.
The concert, hosted by TV presenter Debbie Thrower raised over £8,000 for the repairs, with Barclays Bank in Alresford contributing £2,250 alone.
Organiser Graham Smith said: “I’m delighted that Alresford was able to host such a high-quality concert, featuring some of music’s finest talent. I’d really like to thank the hard work and support of the fantastic performers and the local community for really getting behind the concert to raise essential funds to ensure the town’s historic bells so they can continue to ring in all their glory, some 200 years after they were first rung.”
Key local supporters of the cause included County News, Footprint Communications, The Naked Grape, Floral Design, Moda Rosa, Keats Estate Agents, Maddie Attenborough Photography, Majestic Wine, Ceejay Warwick Trailers, Soles Butchers, Alresford Co-Op, The Swan Hotel, St John’s Ambulance and Mark Tubb of the Alresford Forum, who provided the concert’s photography.
