Green campaign in Alresford fails due to lack of support Green campaign in Alresford fails due to lack of support

A GREEN campaigning group in Alresford has folded because of a lack of volunteers.

The Alresford Greening Campaign has announced it is going into “dormancy” due to a shortage of people on the organising committee.

Chairman Jon Cranfield says he will focus on other projects in the town. The Alresford Wildlife group will keep going.

The Greening Campaign was started in 2007-08 by Cathy Swan, Chris Wilkinson and various people who launched co-ordinated efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the town.

Last year it held a Low Carbon Living event including a screening of Age of Stupid, Climate Change Condensed Workshop and the Low Carbon Living Fair at Perins School.

The Alresford Wildlife Group in 2012 will hold a second 24-hour wildlife recording event known as the Alresford Bioblitz.

The group is also studying eels in local rivers and will look after the St John's Churchyard.

Excellent news!

Let's hope that all the other lunatic "Green" campaigns and their non-evidence based nonsense will go the same way.

And perhaps Winacc will start to realise that they have no mandate and no support among the public in Hampshire and stop trying to shove their ill-considered policies down our throats.
