DISABLED children will be able to attend a summer holiday camp in Alresford after new funding was secured.

The Perins School Fun Camp has been awarded the grant from a government and Hampshire County Council scheme called Aiming High for Disabled Children.

The money will help cover the cost of additional staff, play equipment and staff training that will enable the facility to take a wider spectrum of children.

Fun Camp can now offer extra assistance for disabled children and one-to one care for its activity days.

Clive Surry, Senior Community Manager at Perins, said: “This is an exciting development for Fun Camp.

“We are keen to see children of all abilities play together and this funding means we can increase the staff ratio to make this possible. The children readily accept new things at this age and this initiative will help form their view of disability for life.”

The scheme is a national three-year programme to improve services for disabled children, young people and their families.
