A CONTENTIOUS scheme to redevelop a former Alresford railway cutting has resurfaced.
Plans have again been submitted to build on land between New Farm Road and Bridge Road, prompting Alresford to call a meeting. The application, by Chalkbank Estates, will be discussed at Alresford Recreation Centre on Monday, March 15, from 7.30pm.
The latest plans involve putting 23 homes on the narrow strip of land. An earlier scheme, for 24 dwellings, was refused in September 2008.
Proposals to develop the plot – which was bought speculatively more than 30 years ago by Laurie Cook and Nigel Woodham – have proved to be highly contentious. More than 85 Alresford residents objected to the 2008 scheme with 34 letter supporting it.
The deadline for commenting on the application is Thursday, March 11.
