A PLUCKY Alresford mum is gearing up to cycle around Cuba to raise money for a women's charity.
Sarah Marshallsay will join This Morning presenter Fern Britton and 80 other women on a 230-mile trip around the island to fund-raise for Women for Women, who help research devastating genetic conditions such as cystic fibrosis.
The 45-year-old said she was inspired to take up the challenge after working as a carer at Naomi House Children's Hospice for eight years.
Despite often cycling from her Appledown Close home to work at Sutton Scotney she is worried about having to complete the mileage in just four and half days.
"It's going to be a hell of a challenge," said Mrs Marshallsay, mother to Samantha, 19, and Christine, 18. "I've been on a 50-mile cycle before but doing another 50-miles the next day is very scary. Hopefully the camaraderie of it all will really help but I'm going to be a nervous wreck!"
Before she takes up the November challenge she is holding a disco at Winchester Rugby Club as well a prize raffle, to boost her charity coffers. The draw's first prize is a diamond pendant donated by Winchester-based Jeremy France Jewellers.
