ALRESFORD Eel House's first open day of 2017 attracted a record attendance of 209 visitors who contributed £149 towards the restoration fund now standing at £11,250.
Total visitors from the start of the restoration stands at 6,499 with the hope of topping 7,000 by the end of the season.
Apart from being a unique feature for the town, it is becoming an ever increasing tourist attraction with the next Open Day being May 21, to coincide with the Watercress Festival.

David Woods, Eel House chairman, has applied for a licence to catch Eels, as well as producing a board highlighting nearly 100 donors. The new greetings card has proved popular with 54 cards being sold to date.
The 19th century structure on the River Alre is believed to be one of only two in the country.
