CHERITON Primary School was visited by Meon Valley MP George Hollingbery on World Book Day last week to read to pupils.
The children, all dressed up as their favourite book characters, listened to George as he read a story about a penguin called Lost & Found by Oliver Jeffers.
“It was a tremendous pleasure to visit the school and an honour to read to the children on World Book Day,” said George.
“All studies show that children who are read to and who read do much better at school, continue to read into their teenage and adult years and read more challenging books.
“Fostering a love of reading through World Book Day is a great way to ensure future generations continue to enjoy what is a great pleasure and I thank the headteacher Andrew Goldsworthy for allowing me to take part.”
