WINCHESTER developer Alfred Homes has submitted its application for homes on a field in Alresford.

It wants to build 60 homes on land next to Arlebury Park off The Avenue owned by local farmer Rodney Morgan-Giles.

The application includes an extended public car park, open space and landscaping and internal access roads.

The development, named Alderwood, includes 19 homes for the over-55s and 40 per cent affordable housing (24 homes).

The plans have been the subject of public consultation, with a majority of those attending the public exhibition in December 2015 voicing support, said Alfred Homes.

Gregg Joslin, MD of Alfred Homes, said: “New Alresford is a beautiful town and our proposals are of an extremely high quality, to reflect the surrounding area. We know that many people in the town supported our plans and we hope Winchester City Council will consider these local views carefully.”

Winchester City Council and Alresford Town Council prefer the site off Sun Lane on the eastern side of the town as the site for the bulk of the 500 homes needed over the next 20 years.
