A MAN who died during a three-car crash on a Hampshire main road has been named.

Bryan Webb was caught in a collision involving three vehicles on the A31 southbound carriageway between the Chawton roundabout and Four Marks village at 6.52pm on Wednesday.

The 58-year-old from Alton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Last night his family paid tribute to him, releasing a statement, saying: "Bryan was a greatly loved family man, taken too soon, who will be missed by so many."

Two other people, a man and a woman, suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital by ambulance.

The road was closed for several hours while police launched an investigation.

It was fully reopened at 2am yesterday morning. But officers are still probing the circumstances into what caused the collision and are urging witnesses to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting 44160019180.

At the time of the crash there was heavy rain.
