TWO Alresford authors have been sharing tales from their books with Winchester children.
Liz Nankivell and Moira Blackwell led the interactive storytime session at the Discovery Centre in Jewry Street on Tuesday (April 7).
The creators of the Binky Bear books also invited an owl from Lainston House Falconry to ‘play’ the character Owl.
Children took their places on colourful seats whilst music and games were played.
The books include maps of Winchester which children and parents can use to follow the story themselves, including stop-offs at historical sites such as The Westgate.
Ms Nankivell said: “We are excited to be doing these readings and sharing the adventures of Binky Bear with children. We want to encourage children and their parents to get out and about.”
Ms Blackwell added: “The parents love it because the kids want to walk. It’s a great day out, costs nothing and the routes are push chair and toddler friendly.”
The stories follow a teddy bear on his travels and have proved a big hit – they are currently stocked in Harrods in London among other stores.
