A WOMEN’S group celebrating its centenary will hold a baton relay which passes through Alresford.
The Women’s Institute Centenary Baton Relay will travel from Basingstoke to the town, where people are encouraged to line the roadside to watch them pass in a vintage AA vehicle.
The torch will be handed over to the Bishop’s Waltham WI during a celebration ceremony at the Alresford Recreation Centre at 2.30pm on Thursday, January 15.
The organisation was formed during World War One to encourage women to become more involved with producing food and revitalise rural communities.
