ALRESFORD town councillors are supporting ideas for a shared pool of CCTV equipment at the city council.

At last full council meeting chairman Cllr Lisa Griffiths said that East Hampshire District Council has just purchased equipment which can be ‘hired’ by villages and towns with trouble hotspots.

Councillors said they would write to EHDC to express their support for the scheme and request that Winchester City Council also adopts it.

Mrs Griffiths said: “We have issues at Alrebury Park and on and off at Stratton Bates.

"CCTV might deter them, catch a few and stop others. We can’t afford to purchase it. The suggestion is that the city council does the same thing to support towns like us.”
