A BISHOP’S Sutton bell ringer has raised hundreds of pounds to repair the village’s handbells.
Vera Lipscombe said the original pair were in a “sorry state” when she found them stashed away in St Nicholas Church.
She raised the £615 refurbishment bill with the help of Mandy and Bob Bennett, of The Ship pub, who donated over £200 from a quiz night. Mrs Lipscombe also took £400 from a jumble sale.
Now she is inviting new members to join the Bishop's Sutton bellringers.
They meet in the village hall on Tuesdays from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
