The vehicle overturned on the A31 between Winchester and Alresford, at the Ovington junction, trapping her inside.

It is not yet known what caused the Peugeot to upturn. Three other people in the car were hurt.

One crew from Winchester joined a crew from Alresford, along with police and the ambulance service, to free the woman at around 1.30am.

A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said: “We got a call at 12.30am to a road traffic collision involving one vehicle. We sent four ambulance crews, two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance officer and out hazardous area response team. They were setting and treating a total of four patients.

“Three were taken to Southampton General Hospital and one taken to North Hampshire Hospital, all suffering non-life threatening injuries.”
