A BARN dance in Old Alresford has raised some £900 for Save the Children.

Churches Together in Alresford has been helping the charity’s ‘Build It for Babies’ project in Bangladesh.

The dance was held on September 13 in the splendid 15th century barn at Pinglestone Farm, hosted by Lord and Lady Wakeham, accompanied by the lively music of the Woodsiders Ceilidh and Barn Dance Band, and fuelled by delicious food, over 100 guests from all Alresford’s churches.

Claire Whale, who as a Save the Children volunteer visited Pailikandi, the village in Bangladesh where the hospital is now established, was absolutely delighted and grateful to all those who helped in any way during the past two years. The dance helped hit the £7,000 target.

For the coming two years CTIA’s chosen charity will be Home-Start Winchester that supports about 50 families in difficult times.
