THE scheme to alter the Jacklyns Lane/West Street crossroads in Alresford has got the go ahead from the county council. Work is due to start soon.
The £297,000 improvements were formally approved by Cllr Sean Woodward at his at his recent decision day.
A new zebra crossing will be installed in Jacklyns Lane, near the access to Perins School and a crossing point in West Street near the Co-op store.
The eastbound bus stop will be improved and the pavement widened on the eastern side of Jacklyns Lane.
Cllr Woodward said: “It is important this junction is improved to ensure pupils, staff and other pedestrians can continue to cross the road safely on this busy route to Perins.”
The measures have been developed with the town council and the Alresford Society.
