ONE of Hampshire's most popular country shows returns to Alresford on Saturday September 6.

The town's 106th agricultural show will be held at Tichborne Park from 9am until 6pm.

The heart of the event remains farming and so there will be livestock classes and static displays of farm equipment, modern and vintage.

The show rings will host a variety of displays including Rockwood Dog Display team, Iberian horses, shire horses, birds of prey, a parade of hounds, beagles and bloodhounds, champion livestock, show jumping and carriage riding.

A new attraction will be scurry driving described by show organisers as 'rally cross with horses'. Two horses pull a carriage around a course made of cones. The fastest time wins.

The horticultural, poultry, bees and honey shows and craft tent all return as does ferret racing and 150 trade stands.

Before August 31 tickets are £13 for adults, £9 for seniors, free for children under-14 if accompanied by an adult. On the day tickets are £2 more.
