ALRESFORD town council have agreed to help a newly-formed residents association with a new notice board.

At the full council meeting on Thursday, councillors agreed to assist the Nursery Road Residents’ Association with their application for a £1,000 grant from Hampshire County Council.

Sam Kerr-Smiley represented the group. He said: “It is for people without access to the internet and social media, and will be used to disseminate information about news, events, and even local plans.”

He asked the council for their support, which Cllr Ann Stow said she had reservations about.

“I feel a bit uneasy about this,” she said. “I just have a problem with it because if for example the New Farm Road site is developed and we as a council have been seen to be backing people who are against the Sun Lane development, it looks odd.”

After much debate, the council agreed to work with the residents’ association and administer their funds until it sets up its own bank account.
