TV PRESENTER Sally Taylor is supporting a charity event at the Long Barn in Alresford on February 14.

Long Barn will serve special cakes and goodies throughout the morning to boost The Haven in Wessex’s fund raising.

After a successful appeal last year, the campaign aims to raise a second tranche of funding to set up a breast cancer support centre.

Jane Marsden, of Long Barn, said: “We invite all our customers to pop in and eat cake with us and be tempted, or take away a piece for later. It’s a lovely thing to do on Valentine’s Day and we will donate the proceeds of the cake sales to the appeal.”

The event runs from 10am-12.30pm. No reservations necessary. Call 01962 738684 for further information.

ALRESFORD and District Community Association were hosts to 90 guests, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Winchester at their annual Burns Supper, which raised some £1,300 for community centre refurbishment funds.

The supper got underway with the Selkirk Grace offered by Maurice Miles.

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening, Graham Cranmer, gave the address to the Haggis which had been presented by Clive Earthy, led by piper Jim Dawson.

The Mayor, Ernie Jeffs, gave the Immortal Memory and the toast to the 'Lasses' was made by Brian Gabriel and responded to by Barbara Noble.

The evening closed with a vote of thanks from ADCA President Brian Champion to all those who had worked behind the scenes to make the event such a success.

ALRESFORD Community Theatre Society performs Rodgers & Hammerstein's much-loved musical Oklahoma! on February 20-21 at 7.30pm and Saturday February 22 at 2pm and 7.30pm at Perins School.

Mark Hoban, Fareham MP, will speak about life as a Government minister.

The evening starts at 7pm with a complimentary glass of wine before the talk at 7.30pm.
