AN ONLINE petition is underway to limit heavy good vehicles travelling through Alresford.
Petitioners launched the site using Change.org, an online service that registers signatures, allowing residents to voice their concerns over lorries in Alresford and the surrounding villages.
One hundred signatures are needed for the petition which states: “We object especially to articulated through traffic that does not serve or provide any benefit to the town. This is having a serious detrimental effect on the local infrastructure, residents’ property and the health and safety of all those using the town on a daily basis.”
The issue has been highlighted by the collision between two lorries on The Soke, at the bottom of Broad Street, last year.
The problem has worsened with the growth of the watercress farms at Old Alresford.
